An in-depth look at the 2018 Kia Sorento LX and EX trims

2018 Kia Sorento LX vs. EX

If you’re shopping for a powerful three-row crossover SUV, then you probably have the 2018 Kia Sorento on your list. This sleek, sophisticated crossover delivers an athletic driving experience all while keeping passengers comfortable and entertained inside the high-tech cabin. Choose from five trims, including the L, LX, EX, SX and SX Limited and three engine options.

Which model is right for you? If you’re looking for a generous array of high-tech features, but don’t necessarily need all the premium technologies on the top-of-the-line SX or SX Limited, we recommend the LX or EX. Here’s a closer look at how the two trims compare.

The most significant difference between the LX and EX are the engines and high-tech features available. To start, the LX model is standard with a 185-hp, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine while the EX model receives a 240-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine under the hood. Both the LX and EX are also available with an optional 290-hp, 3.3-liter V6 engine.

Inside the cabin, the 2018 Kia Sorento LX carries over all the features from the base L model and adds a variety of its own. Standard features include roof rails, a rearview camera, selectable drive modes, Bluetooth, a six-speaker sound system with satellite radio and CD player, three USB ports and much more. All-wheel drive models are only available with seven seats.

The LX model is also available with a variety of optional accessories packages, which add on even more premium features. For example, the Convenience package adds heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 7-inch Uvo touchscreen interface, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
