The most efficient option is under the hood of the EX trim. Drivers of this trim will get a 178-horsepower, 1.6-liter inline four-cylinder engine and average up to 37 highway mpg and 27 city mpg. 
The base (LX) and S models come with a larger, 2.4-liter I-4 engine powered by 185 horses. This engine contributes to 33 highway mpg and 24 city mpg. The top-of-the-line SX comes with a turbocharged, 245-horsepower 2.0-liter I-4 engine. This model averages up to 30 highway mpg and 21 city mpg. No matter what trim level you go with, the 2019 Optima is designed to save you some money at the pumps and to help reduce your overall emissions.
